What an experience this project was! I was lucky enough to be chosen to participate in this year’s (2021) Power Up Project in our city in which hydro boxes are painted by emerging artists in our local city’s growingly popular Art & Music Festival. It was a beautiful experience and I met many art enthusiasts and local coffee shop dwellers who were nothing but encouraging, positive and supportive. I’ll never forget it!
My piece is titled, “Stay Magic” because it’s all about feeling out of this world ( 😉 ) exactly as you are. After the struggles we have all experienced individually (yet universally too) recently in recent world events, I feel embracing our true passions, personalities and authentic selves more important than ever. So, as we start to pull our masks off –– let’s embrace our true selves.
It was a truly exciting project. I’ve always wanted to participate in the Up Here Festival as an artist as I have volunteered for a few years as a student assisting Ola Vola, Ella & Pitr and a few other amazing muralists. They are all contributing people that have led me to pursue illustration and murals myself. I can’t wait to continue doing more!
