Indigenous photography

It’s always been a goal of mine to capture cultures not just abroad but in my own country. I decided to put a calling out for local Indigenous women who wanted to be a part of my series. I found Britney, a local student at Cambrian College who’s taking Social Work with a Specialization in Indigenous Studies. She was eager to help me out.

I wanted to capture the regality of her culture yet still maintain a traditional feel. I used a Brooke Shaden style texture for this experiment:

I feel this is just the beginning of something. I’d love to include more of an interview aspect with these photoshoots and travel to more remote places to create this kind of work!
